JW Tutoring offers bespoke, one-to-one private tuition in a variety of subjects, such as Maths A Level tuition, specialising in the ISEB 11+ and CE examinations. We are based in the beautiful cathedral city of Chichester in the UK, but offer home tuition online through online platforms such as Zoom.

About Justin

Welcome to JW Tutoring. My name is Justin Wakelin and I am a professional tutor with over 15 years of teaching and tutoring experience.

My journey into teaching began when I was 15 and I attended Scripture Union camps in South Africa. I discovered a passion for working with young people and it ignited a spark that would lead me down the road to making it a lifelong passion of mine.

I am incredibly passionate about helping pupils get into the school of their choice by helping them prepare for their entrance tests, interviews or helping them achieve top grades.

I now live in the beautiful cathedral city of Chichester where I have launched JW Tutoring. Out of the classroom, I can be found enjoying the outdoors and beauty of the south coast. I love running or being out on my paddleboard.

Qualifications

My love for the outdoors and work with young people led me to Stellenbosch University where I studied an undergraduate in Sport Science. An Honours Degree and a Masters in Sport Pedagogy were to follow soon after.

In 2007, considering pursuing my doctorate, I was headhunted to join one of the top prep schools in the UK as a teacher and housemaster. Jumping at the opportunity, I decided to move to the UK permanently, where I have taught a variety of subjects over the years, including Geography, Science, Religious Studies as well as heading up the Physical Education department.

I later assumed the Head of Geography role which I held for 9 years until I departed in 2019. I also completed my PGCE at the University of Buckingham in 2010, whilst developing an interest in researching the science and psychology behind school entrance tests and procedures such as verbal and non-verbal reasoning and interview technique. I now dedicate all my time to mastering the art of this, to give children the best possible chance of entering their first-choice school.
