About Our Tutoring Services
Every child is different and they will require a unique approach to help them learn. At JW Tutoring we firmly believe that success comes after a growing rapport with the tutor. We also accept short-term placements and residentials internationally, depending on the circumstances and additional expenses for travel will apply.
11+ Tutoring

We discuss the various tests involved, the timings of the tests, as well as the time horizon to begin preparation on this. This will help you start getting your child ready for this demanding process.
We help prepare pupils for the following subjects tested at the 11+ entry level:
- Maths

- Verbal Reasoning
- Non-Verbal Reasoning

Preparing for the 11+ entry exams to various schools takes a lot of time, effort and preparation. The ideal preparation for these exams should begin around two summers before the actual final examination in order to have the best chance at a successful entry to the school of your choice. Time will be spent to ensure students are fully prepared for the tests, while fostering an interest in current affairs and developing communication skills for the upcoming interviews.
UKiset
UKiset is an assessment designed for entry into British curriculum schools. This helps provide schools with all the information they need when considering an overseas applicant.
The test includes assessments of academic potential and English language skills, and the results compare candidates against British students of the same age.
The test is comprised of 3 parts: reasoning, reading and listening and creative writing and we help pupils become acquainted with these by taking them through simulation tests on various platforms.

Different schools treat scholarships differently and the examinations can be very challenging, with testing focused at an age ability a year to two above the child’s current academic ability. The foundations for these examinations are lain in the previous years, but in individual preparation, it is essential for a pupil to be stretched above the level of work they are currently covering at school.

You can normally study three or more A levels over two years and they are usually assessed by a series of examinations. We help prepare students for the following subjects at A- Level:
• Geography
• PE

Interview Prep
It all begins with preparation. No child should ever walk into an interview without first having done their homework. We take pupils and parents through the process and what to expect from their particular school. We conduct mock interviews, simulating the style and questioning technique adopted by many of the top schools in the UK. This will help develop a child’s conversational competence.
We work on a variety of topics in these prep sessions, depending on the school for which your child is applying. Apart from the usual questioning routine, this includes important areas often incorporated into school interviews such as debating topics, memory tests, thunks and discussion about the news and current affairs.
Feedback along with a lot of encouragement and advice is then provided so that children can reflect and identify areas in which they can improve.
We firmly believe that to have the best chance of success, one interview session is not enough. If time allows, a pupil should be run through a second or even third interview. In these sessions we are looking to see if the child being has taken onboard the advice given to them in the previous sessions and to see if they have adjusted their approach accordingly. A selection of new questions are also incorporated to ‘keep them on their toes’, something which will no doubt happen in the real interview.
